Xplor is a company that values local communities and over the next few years we are looking to develop closer ties with a number of organisations and groups. We hope this activity will not only allow us to give something back but also provide a focus for our employees and demonstrate Xplor’s concern for social responsibility.
In the past, we have supported a range of causes.
Xplor Ltd proudly sponsors the Newmarket Day Centre for the second year running. The Day Centre relies on voluntary donations or activities which generate funding in order to provide resources to entertain their clients. The Day Centre have traditionally arranged a summer day out for their clients on an annual basis which was previously subsidised. Last year for the first time Xplor sponsored this day out with a fully paid trip to the coast visiting Southwold, which included some spending money for the clients for the pier. This year we have paid for a day trip for 46 of the Day Centre’s clients to have a 4-hour cruise on the River Boat Georgina up the River Cambs, together with a fish and chips lunch in late June. The day is always a resounding success with the Day Centre clients, giving them an opportunity to get out in the fresh air in the summer months for what always makes a memorable day for them.
Xplor Ltd are proudly sponsoring James Stecklemacher, a 14 year old from Bottisham (near Newmarket), who has been selected for the National Squad this year. James is currently studying for his GCSE’s whilst balancing a keen and active interest in sailing. With a new Laser boat purchased, helped by a grant from the Company, to assist him in his development within the Squad for next year he attends regular training weekends when the youngsters are put through their paces by highly experienced sailing professionals. James has also made a promising start to the season locally, competing in the Traveller series, which consists of 11 one-day competitions located around East Anglia, in which he came 2nd in the first event of the season, a personal best for him.
We wish him every luck for the forthcoming year in both local events and within the National Squad.
In Peterborough our office has had a long-standing relationship with the NSPCC and regularly attends its annual summer ball with key clients as well as donating a "racing experience" as an auction prize at this annual event. This year’s auction prize was for four people to attend the July Cup Day in Newmarket and name the race sponsored by Xplor.
In Newmarket, we have developed a relationship with Newmarket College art department. A digital camera and A3 printer were donated to the art department and in return we were able to borrow A-level artwork to display in our facilities. We are hoping to secure this arrangement on a yearly basis and are currently in discussion with the art department.
In Kenilworth our office has had a long-standing relationship with the Kenilworth Rugby Football Club (KRFC) and has been the main sponsor for the club for the past five years. Staff from the office are closely involved with the club; Willie Whitesmith, Divisional Director, is Honorary Secretary and Marketing Consultant Bob Jones is the match day scribe.
